First things first: Oslo is doing great! That little rascal has gained a whole pound now that he eats mostly food instead of plastic and rubber. His coat is softer and shinier now, too, and he’s a non-stop playing machine. He went back to the vet yesterday for the remainder of his kitten shots, and the doc said he looked great. Every day with this awesome little guy feels like a gift.

From Oslo

Next up, the old man of the house just turned five! I do question the wisdom of making Cairo’s birthday July 4th, since he spent most of the day cowering under the bed or on the shelf in the closet. I may have to retroactively decide he was born on the 3rd or the 5th, since it’s just a guess anyway.

From Cairo

And today is July 7th, the fourth anniversary of my cat Zar’s death. I still hold that fuzzy grey dude in my heart and think of him often. We went through a lot togther, that cat and I. He will not be forgotten.

  1. Oslo is way too cute. I missed meeting Zar and he looks so beautiful. He'd probably come out and meet me unlike Cairo. Zar still wins the prize for best litter box self-training. I've had dogs, cats, and house rabbits. I think cats do the best when it comes to handling emotionally difficult situations. Even the bounciest have a center of complete peace.

I wish you could bring Oslo and Mr. Cairo on Saturday, but cats really don't like to go out and have a party like dogs do.

    1. Zar would definitely come out to see you, Susan. He wasn't afraid of anything or anyone. He moved six times with me — once via a drive across the entire country — and never missed a beat. He was the tough little cat I needed. :)
