Unexpected Names

Before I got my new Chinese broadsword, I’d been trying to think of cool names for it. Some of my other weapons are named Whisper, Cricket, Oolong, Dragonfly, and of course, Mr. Pointy. But a sword is special; a sword needs a super-cool name.

But when Sifu Carrie handed me the sword, I looked down at its faded blue hilt and the first name that came to me was “Blueberry.”

Blueberry is in no way a cool name. I endeavored to forget it, to shake it off, to come up with something more fitting. More awesome. But tonight, after spending an hour in weapons class bonding with my new blade, I must acknowledge the inevitable truth.

The sword’s name is Blueberry, and there’s just nothing I can do about it.

Swish, swish.

Blueberry is an awesome name. A noble name. A Fae name. Mayhap your sword is from the Faerie Realm?

I, for one, will absolutely not mock Blueberry's name. Especially when I'm looking at it.

I'm totally going to mock Blueberry's name. While I'm here in Iowa…

Are we forgetting the noble wee Blueberries of A Bug's Life? The name reflects a proud tradition of cunning and courage!
